Workshop/Training Opportunities
A-Teams! (2–day course)
Develop building blocks to activate local, grassroots action in your community.
Parent Advocacy:
What does it mean to be an advocate for your child? We will discuss the types of advocacy parents can–and should–participate in, the barriers to advocacy involvement (fear of failure, loss of control), and the opportunities for advocacy involvement now.
Raising a Self Advocate:
We promote parents & family advocacy, but how do parents raise a self advocate? We will talk about things parents can do to foster self–advocacy in their children.
The “Other” Kid:
Families of children with special needs usually include more than one child. But what about the other kid? Hear from an adult sibling about assumptions and lessons for parents.
Self-Advocacy:
Are you an advocate for yourself? Do you speak up for what you need and want for yourself? Let’s talk about self–advocacy...
